December 2004 Archives
As Joseph Campbell (among others) has documented, many native peoples believe that there is a sacred link between the hunter and the hunted. In what Forbes magazine has designated as the worst technology product of 2004, live-shot.com has severed any vestiges of that link that might still exist and replaced it with... the Internet.
Even though it sounds like a cheesy plot element from a movie or TV show, LIVE-SHOT lets you use your PC to target and shoot (as in real bullets) paper and silhouette targets as well as "exotic game" (as in real sheep, antelope, and wild hogs) on a ranch somewhere in Texas. Think a pan/tilt/zoom webcam plus a remote-controlled .22.
Look, everybody! It's my shiny new blog thing. Now, if only I had something to say.
For the nonce, check out what the cool kids are writing about at amblongus or weblogsky or the Burnt Orange Report.
And if you care at all about what's happening in Iraq, go to fallujahinpictures.com (an impassioned introduction to which can be found in this column by Mark Morford (thanks to amblongus for the pointer)).
